MONICA WOODARD: About Me

MONICA WOODARD

I started singing in church when I was four...dad would stand me up in a chair so the congregation could see and hear me. I sang a few years later with both mom and dad at countless revivals and camp meetings, and eventually my two younger sisters joined the family gospel group. Dad taught me some guitar chords when I was around twelve, and i've been playing and writing since then.
Throughout the years, I formed country/rock bands and played venues ranging from fancy inns to little roadhouses. My musical direction has evolved from influences of my gospel roots and artists such as Rosanne Cash, Bob Dylan, Don McClean,Emmylou Harris, Joan Baez, and some of the early pioneers of country music.
I love performing..singing takes me to a peaceful place, and the reward is in knowing that I have taken others there, for a moment leaving behind what we must all come back to.
Thank you for visiting my site..and to all those who come out to my gigs, all my gratitude.
